Michael Reagan, Son of Former President Ronald Reagan, Dies at 80

Los Angeles, CA — January 7, 2026 – Michael Reagan, the eldest son of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan and a prominent conservative commentator, died on Sunday at the age of 80. He passed away in Los Angeles, surrounded by his family, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute announced.


A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and advocate for the principles of American freedom, Reagan dedicated much of his life to public service, media, and philanthropy. He was known widely for his nationally syndicated radio program The Michael Reagan Show, his conservative commentary, and his lifelong commitment to preserving and promoting the legacy of his father’s presidency.



Born on March 18, 1945, Reagan was adopted hours after his birth by Ronald Reagan and his first wife, actress Jane Wyman. Throughout his career, he worked as a radio host, author, political commentator, and public speaker. He authored several memoirs, reflecting on his personal journey and his perspectives on faith, family, and politics.


Michael Reagan also contributed to numerous charitable causes, supporting organizations focused on Alzheimer’s research, foster care, and other community needs. He served as a leader in several foundations, including the Reagan Legacy Foundation, advocating for civic engagement and public service.


“Michael was and will always remain a beloved husband, father, and grandpa,” his family said in a statement. “Our hearts are deeply broken as we grieve the loss of a man who meant so much to all who knew and loved him.”


Michael Reagan is survived by his wife, Colleen, his two children, Cameron and Ashley, grandchildren, and extended family.
