LOS ANGELES, CA – October 11, 2025 – Hollywood is mourning the loss of one of its most unique and beloved stars. Academy Award-winning actress Diane Keaton passed away today at the age of 79 in her California home, a family spokesperson confirmed.

The cause of death was not immediately disclosed, and the family has asked for privacy during this difficult time of mourning.


Diane Keaton, born Diane Hall in Los Angeles, rose to prominence in the 1970s and became a singular figure in American cinema, known for her distinctive style, effortless charm, and ability to blend comedy and drama. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her endearing, eccentric performance as the title character in Woody Allen’s 1977 classic, Annie Hall.

Her career spanned more than five decades, with iconic roles that cemented her legacy. She starred in seminal films such as The Godfather trilogy, Manhattan, Reds (for which she earned another Oscar nomination), Father of the Bride, The First Wives Club, and the global box office hit Something’s Gotta Give, which earned her a fourth Academy Award nomination.

Beyond acting, Keaton was also an accomplished director, producer, writer, and photographer, and she cultivated a lasting reputation as an enduring fashion and design icon.
