PHILADELPHIA (NB360) — The Philadelphia Eagles plan to celebrate their Super Bowl win against the Kansas City Chiefs with a parade on Friday, according to a team official and the city on Monday.

Eagles President Don Smolenski mentioned the parade on 94WIP sports radio, though specific details like the time were not shared. He explained that the potential severe weather this week, including a possible snowstorm from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday, influenced the date selection.

“We’re monitoring the weather, and with snow expected this week, we want to allow the city to manage their needs,” Smolenski said. “An extra day of planning is beneficial. It’s a great way to start the weekend.”

Philadelphia's mayor’s office confirmed the date later on Monday, stating, “We will provide more details soon” in a social media post.

Prior to the game, officials in both Philadelphia and Kansas City anticipated increased security and heightened emotions at Super Bowl victory celebrations in their cities.

Eagles fans gathered in large numbers to celebrate the team’s victory after the game ended Sunday night, but police reported no major incidents or injuries. Police made 10 arrests in total, including six individuals charged with assaulting officers.

City crews were still working late Monday morning to clean up confetti, trash, and other debris in parts of downtown.

The city’s celebration following their NFC Championship victory last month was overshadowed when a college student fell after climbing a street pole and succumbed to his injuries.

The Eagles returned to Philadelphia late Monday afternoon, arriving at Philadelphia International Airport to a lively welcome from a large group of local fans. The crowd cheered as team owner Jeffrey Lurie raised the Vince Lombardi Trophy upon exiting the plane, and police along with others on the tarmac took photos with the trophy before the team departed in several buses.
