According to a statement released by his family, Norris died Thursday in what was described as a “sudden passing.”

“While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace,” the family shared in a heartfelt message posted to social media.

A Life of Strength, Discipline, and Influence

Before becoming a global entertainment icon, Norris built a dominant career in martial arts. He was a six-time undefeated World Professional Middleweight Karate Champion, earning respect as one of the most skilled fighters of his era.

He later founded his own martial arts system, Chun Kuk Do, along with the United Fighting Arts Federation, which has produced more than 3,300 black belts worldwide. His contributions to martial arts were further recognized when Black Belt Magazine awarded him a 10th-degree black belt, the highest honor in the discipline.

From Military Service to Hollywood Stardom

Born Carlos Ray Norris on March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Oklahoma, Norris rose from humble beginnings. After moving to California as a child, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958, where his journey into martial arts began during his deployment to Korea.

Norris would go on to become a household name through his work in film and television, most notably starring in the hit series “Walker, Texas Ranger,” where his tough, disciplined persona became synonymous with justice and strength.

Beyond his on-screen roles, Norris became a pop culture phenomenon. His larger-than-life persona inspired countless internet memes, jokes, and references — cementing his place not just as an action star, but as a symbol of strength, resilience, and humor recognized across generations.

From world leaders to fans around the globe, tributes are pouring in honoring a man whose impact stretched far beyond Hollywood.
