Tay Keith, music producer for Drake and Travis Scott, dies at 29
Tay Keith, the hip-hop producer known for his work with Drake, Travis Scott, and Beyoncé, has passed away at the age of 29.
According to Nashville news station WSMV, police discovered Keith, whose real name was Brytavious Chambers, deceased in his apartment on Thursday afternoon. Although the cause of death has not been disclosed, authorities stated that "no foul play is suspected" and that his body was found during a welfare check.
A native of Memphis, Keith gained initial recognition by producing tracks for rapper BlocBoy JB during their teenage years. Their work attracted Drake's attention, leading Keith to produce the 2018 hit "Look Alive," which reached No. 5 on the Hot 100 chart.
Keith's career soared further with his contribution to Travis Scott's 2018 hit "Sicko Mode," which he co-produced while still a student at Middle Tennessee State University.
He later produced tracks for Beyoncé (notably her HBCU tribute "Before I Let Go"), Future, Eminem, and Lil Nas X, among others. In 2022, he achieved another chart-topping success with Drake and 21 Savage's single "Jimmy Cooks." More recently, he produced Sexyy Red's breakout singles "Pound Town" and "SkeeYee." His last social media post was about Chris Brown’s new single “Call Your Name” on May 7.
Keith was honored as producer of the year at the BMI Awards in 2024 and received a Grammy nomination for "Sicko Mode." In 2025, Forbes included him in its "30 Under 30" list alongside his record label Drumatized.
“We talked every day,” wrote BlocBoy JB about his longtime collaborator on Instagram, adding, “yeen even tell me you was leaving.”
